HRV in VinApp: how to measure it and what it means

Heart rate variability (HRV) reflects beat-to-beat variation. In VinApp it is measured in the morning with a compatible strap and interpreted as trends over time, not as a single daily verdict.

Recommended steps

  • Measure in the morning, at rest, with a compatible heart-rate strap that can send RR intervals over Bluetooth or ANT+. Keep still, breathe naturally and let the app stabilize and complete the protocol.
  • VinApp checks signal quality during the measurement. Clean RR data is needed; if the signal is poor, the result may be marked as not valid.
  • You will see metrics such as RMSSD, LnRMSSD, SDNN and heart rate where available. In workouts or the LT1 test you may also see DFA α1 where that view is offered, with a quality indicator.
  • Add subjective context for the day (hours slept and general feelings) when prompted. It helps you interpret trends later, alongside load and sleep.
  • Review history and HRV Lab to follow your own trend over weeks. Compare with yourself, not with others.
  • HRV is one signal among others. A single low or high value is not a diagnosis; focus on patterns and combine it with morning heart rate, feelings, load and sleep.
