What a VO2 Max workout is

Basic concepts

VO2 Max workouts are usually intense and aim to work on high efforts. They are not intended to be done every day.

Recommended steps

  • Do them rested if you can.
  • Warm up well before the hard blocks.
  • Accept that heart rate may take time to rise.
  • Do not turn every week into a collection of VO2 Max sessions.
  • If you cannot complete any of them, review FTP or plan.
  • Recover well afterwards.
