VinHkE and Karoo
How does VinHkE calculate calories and fat/carbs?
VinHkE calculates calories from heart rate using basic physics and an approximate efficiency, and shows an estimate of fat and carbohydrates.
Recommended steps
- The starting physics: 1 W = 1 J/s, so 1 kJ is approximately 1 kcal.
- An approximate efficiency of 24% is applied to estimate actual expenditure.
- The calculation uses profile parameters such as sex, height, weight, and thresholds, plus references from FTP, FCmax, and CTL.
- The energy screens show calories and an estimate of fat and carbohydrates to understand the cost of the ride.
- It is always an estimate: use it as a reference, not as an exact measurement.
